Dr. Meggan Freeland
Dr. Meggan Freeland graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She also completed a Bachelor’s of Animal Science and is finishing her Master’s in Food Safety at MSU. She grew up on her family farm in Parma, MI and was active in 4-H. She ran on the MSU cross country and track teams and worked as an AI technician for a cattle genetics company for 2 years prior to veterinary school.
Dr. Meggan’s special interests include advanced reproductive techniques, ultrasonography, small ruminant medicine, and production animal herd health. In her spare time she and her fiancé Brent operate a 150 head ABGA registered Boer goat herd, attend goat shows, and volunteer with local 4-H programs. She also enjoys running and hiking with her 4 dogs.
Therese Burns

Dr. Burns attended Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She began working at Southkent Veterinary Hospital soon after graduation in 1999 and has been there ever since. She originally wanted to work with farm animals, but soon began practicing companion animal medicine and continued on with that. She also works with pocket pets (rats, mice, guinea pigs) and rabbits. She enjoys soft tissue surgery and performs many procedures weekly.
She has been a member of the West Michigan Veterinary Medical Association since graduation and was on the board of directors for 3 years, working her way up to President. She has also maintained membership with the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association since 1999. She was on the board of directors for 9 years, which included 5 years on the executive committee, and was President of the state association in 2014.
Personally, she has 3 sons, 1 daughter, 2 daughter-in-law’s and a granddaughter. She enjoys 2 dogs at home as well, but has had cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, aquarium fish, parakeets, a sunbird, rabbits, ducks, chickens, turkeys, deer, cows, pigs, horses and sheep.
Rebecca Kursch

Dr. Becca Kursch grew up in Webberville, MI, a small town near Lansing. From an early age she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate studies and went on to attend Michigan State’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating from vet school Dr. Kursch started her career at Southkent Veterinary Hospital in 2005. After 2 years she decided to explore other opportunities in the veterinary field. She returned to us in 2017 and is now one of our practice owners. Dr. Kursch has a strong interest in animal behavior, soft tissue surgery, and preventative medicine.
Dr. Kursch and her husband Andy have 4 children – Leyna, Nora, Thomas, and Hayden. They have 2 cats, George and Shiny, a golden retriever named Patience, an English Setter named Sven, 2 pet rats, Cuddles and Scamper, and a dozen chickens. If she has any spare time Dr. Kursch loves to read, run, and spend time outside with her family.
Allison Koetsier

Dr. Koetsier started with Southkent Veterinary in . Working part time, she was able to develop a niche for herself in the veterinary dental field. She is now working primarily with our in-house dental team to help inform and educate our clients on the importance of dental hygiene in animals! Allison performs routine dental procedures, radiographs and dental surgery on dogs and cats, Monday through Thursday each week. She has stepped up the plate, and participated in 100’s of hours of ongoing education, seminars and hands on learning labs to bring Southkent’s Veterinary Dental program up to high level industry standards.
Sarah Huffman

Dr. Sarah Huffman graduated in May 2023 from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University in 2019. Dr. Sarah grew up on a hobby farm surrounded by chickens, sheep, goats, cats, and dogs. Beginning in high school, Dr. Sarah fell in love with the art of veterinary medicine and has enjoyed exploring multiple areas of the field including exotic and large animal medicine. Her current pets include two cats, Reuben and Joseph, and a Dachshund-Yorkie named Penny. She has a passion for the human-animal bond and treating her patients as part of the family. She looks forward to further developing her surgery and ultrasound skills. Born and raised in the mitten state, Dr. Sarah enjoys spending her free time outside hiking and kayaking. She is excited to explore western Michigan and all it has to offer.

Amy Green

Dr. Amy Green grew up in Detroit, Michigan as a young girl she dreamed of being a Veterinarian to help animals. Her dreams lead her to Michigan State University where she completed her undergrad, Masters and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She joined Southkent Veterinary Hospital in 2006 in Caledonia as an Associate Veterinarian. In 2010 she became one of the partners of Southkent Veterinary Hospital. She has been practicing at the Southkent Byron Center location since 2017.
Dr. Green loves all animals especially her own, she has two cats who are brothers named Tom and Bebop. Outside of work most of her time is spent in the car with her Husband Andy driving to whatever event her two boys Bryce and Brody have that day. In the event she does have some down time she enjoys puzzles, reading and traveling.
Lori Dehlinger
Dr. Lori Dehlinger
Dr. Dehlinger knew at age 8 she wanted to be a veterinarian. Her dream took her to Michigan State University where she graduated with High Honors in 2000. She began her career at the Caledonia branch of SKVH shortly after graduation. In 2009, she then moved to our Byron Center location. She became a partner at SKVH in 2017. Her favorite thing about Veterinary medicine is the new and different challenges it presents daily. She has 3 dogs: a long-haired miniature dachshund named Farley, and 2 rescue dogs- a beagle mix named Prim and a Pitbull mix named Clarabelle. In addition to her dogs, she has 2 hooded rats- Peppa and Dinosaur.
In her spare time, Dr. Dehlinger enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and reading.

Dr. Gall has been practicing at Southkent Byron Center for years. Anna brings experience and knowledge to the practice that only years of experience can offer. Dr. Gall works exclusively with our scheduled clients to create the best experience and treatment results possible. She is dedicated to her clients because of her love for animals.
Nicole Shear

Dr. Shear started with Southkent right after graduation and jumped in with two feet! Over the years she has taken some time off for her family, but always returns back ready to rock and roll! Nikki enjoys meeting new clients, and solving problems. Dr. Shear does surgery as well as small companion animal care and treatments.
